Yuji Kitamura
Designer
Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, and then Boca Raton, Florida, Yuji brings a multidisciplinary approach to design shaped by fabrication, technology, mentorship, and hands-on making. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Florida Atlantic University and his Master of Science in Design Technology from Cornell University. Yuji joins the New Orleans studio as a designer on our Civic/Cultural team.
Yuji’s path into architecture has included a range of design-build and fabrication-based work, from pavilion design and fabrication projects to a yearlong collaboration with Google. During his undergraduate studies, he also managed the continuing education construction management department and led a summer mentorship program for high school students interested in design.
Yuji sees architecture and design as an opportunity to deepen people’s sense of space and belonging. By pairing innovation with context-driven practice, he believes design can help heal the built environment and contribute to a more equitable and just future.
Outside of the office, Yuji can often be found in the kitchen or at a new restaurant, trying new foods and expanding his palate. When he is not exploring food, he is usually on the tennis court or painting custom clothing pieces.
