Tulane University River and Coastal Center
The Tulane River and Coastal Center is an interactive, flexible, and community-oriented facility designed to accommodate the space needs of the ByWater Institute, while also establishing a new identity for the Tulane riverfront campus.
Opened in 2016, the Center features active laboratories and facilities that are available for research and exhibition, classrooms for education and demonstrations, and conference space, that together relay the mission of the Bywater Institute in a light-filled facility opening to incredible views of the Mississippi River.
Designed to meet best practices in net zero energy performance based on Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) research, the 7,750 GSF project is primed to be a catalyst for resilience for the foreseeable future. With the TRCC as its centerpiece, the campus will serve as a magnet for research and investment, providing an exceptional platform for expanding existing and emerging economic sectors capable of restoring and protecting the coast.
