Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and growing up across the US and abroad, Joan received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and Master of Architecture degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

After completed her education, Joan worked in Atlanta and DC before moving to New Orleans, primarily focusing her work in Student Housing and Multifamily structures.

Joan believes that architecture is dependent on one’s ability to stay curious and to question everything. She also values the experience and needs of the end user; she focuses her efforts in ensuring the project is about those that will actually use a building or design, not about the architect designing it.

When Joan is not designing or working in the office, she enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her family. You can also find her exploring the city in search of the best coffee!
