The Orpheum returns to Beaux-Arts glory with historic renovation

Closed since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the Orpheum Theatre is set to reopen in the fall. The theatre is considered a landmark in part for its Beaux-Arts style which is being painstakingly restored. Construction on the theatre commenced in 1919 and it is an example of “vertical hall” construction,” a design style valued by customers for sight lines and musicians for its great acoustics.
