The Shaw Center for the Arts

This multi-venued facility for the visual and performing arts creates a new cultural heart to downtown Baton Rouge and has served as a catalyst for the arts community and the Riverfront district as a whole. The outcome of a historic collaboration between Louisiana State University, city and state governments, and regional arts organizations, the project includes six stories of gallery, classroom and administrative space and a 300-seat, technically sophisticated theater. The complex provides stunning river views from upper story galleries, as well as from a roof-top terrace and cafe. The 125,500 square foot facility opened in February 2005. Eskew+Dumez+Ripple served as Executive Architect for the project in collaboration with Schwartz Silver, Design Architect, and Jerry Campbell, Associate Architect.
