Audubon Institute Aquarium of the Americas

The Aquarium of the Americas is one of the highest ranking aquarium attractions in the United States, with environmental exhibits focused on the aquatic life of North, Central and South America. Allen Eskew, FAIA led a five firm joint venture to design and implement Phase I of this project, a 115,000 square foot glass and white stucco structure whose lines are both elegant and fanciful in response to its setting and function. The development also included a 16-acre linear park along the Mississippi Riverfront, a public amenity which provides a vital tourist linkage and much needed open space along the River. Phase II, also a joint venture project, developed a 65,000 square foot I-MAX theater, an 8,000 square foot changing exhibits gallery, and a 3,500 square foot sea otter habitat and sea otter reproduction laboratory.
